Effective date: April 12, 2026
Mise ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the Mise app collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.
We do not collect personally identifiable information. Mise is a local-first application. In Phase 1, all app data is stored exclusively on your device using SQLite. No account is required to use the app.
We generate a random device identifier (UUID) on first launch. This identifier is stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and is used only to scope your data within the app. It is never transmitted to any server in a way that could identify you personally.
When you import a recipe using "Type It In," "From a Link," "From a Recipe Card," or "From a Dish," the content of that recipe (text or image) is sent to our backend server for processing. Our backend uses the Anthropic Claude API to parse, normalize, and analyze recipe content.
This means recipe text and images you submit are processed by Anthropic's systems in accordance with Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not send any information that identifies you personally alongside recipe content.
Mise may request access to your device location to find nearby grocery stores for Market Day ordering. Specifically:
Mise integrates with Instacart and Kroger to enable grocery ordering. When you use these features:
When you use "From a Recipe Card" or "From a Dish" to import a recipe, Mise accesses your camera or photo library solely to capture the image for recipe parsing. Images are processed to strip EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates) before any transmission. Images are not stored on our servers after processing.
All app data — your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and preferences — is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. We do not operate a cloud database in Phase 1. If you delete the app, all associated data is deleted from your device.
We may use third-party analytics and crash reporting tools (such as Sentry) to identify and fix bugs. These tools collect anonymized diagnostic data including crash logs and performance metrics. They do not collect personally identifiable information.
Mise is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
